Our annual NAMM clinics have become something that I look forward to every year. NAMM brings musicians from around the world, and is the perfect opportunity to learn from some incredible guitar pickers. One I especially look forward to having every year is our friend Paul Pigat from Vancouver. Every clinic with him has inspired me, and his presence in my life has impacted my musicianship. I know he he has had the same effect on some of you. We first met in a parking lot during a NAMM event and the following year we began this tradition. Through Paul I met Barry Grzebik, the man behind Grez Guitars. I can’t say enough about him or his guitars. I have proudly played one of his guitars and couldn’t imagine my life without it. He is in the small club of guitar builders that produces for the roots guitarist. His passion for the music comes through in every guitar he makes. His instruments feel and sound organic. Paul, Barry, and myself have added to the NAMM clinic tradition by adding special guests. This Year we are proud to have Rodney Gene Jr. I first met Rodney a couple years ago through email. His lessons and ability are an inspiration to me. I was not only amazed by his technique, but also his spirit for teaching. He is is a focused and spiritual educator. This is an attribute I wish more educators had. He is an incredible musician and vocalist. I can’t wait to see the lessons he will deliver for this year’s NAMM show. If that wasn’t enough I’m including a bass element this year. My buddy Brent Harding from Deke Dickerson, and Social Distotion will be here to talk about rhythmic ideas within a roots band. The clinic goes from 2-5:00 Beer is on me if you bring your own chair. If your flying in and can’t bring a chair we should have some on hand, or I can steal a couple from my neighbors yard. The clinic is 35.00 and purchase of the event is your ticket. We have limited space so RSVP soon.
