Glad she came in. That is a good sounding tele! Both me and Nico played it at the shop and fell in love with it. TK has hit a home run with this design. My pine Dunham with the TK pickup responds differently than the TK tele. I think the neck is a big part of it. On another note you sound fantastic!

    Thanks Tommy and Grez,

Unfortunately no magic was transferred into my fingers from the strings after having Tommy, Nico and TK play it =( back to the woodshed!

So far I have found it to be much more mellow than a regular tele. It has a lovely mellow and woody tone great for playing swing/jazz. It has less “spank” than a regular telle which I enjoy, its very unique and has its own identity for sure. The feel is amazing, the neck is basically perfect to my preference and the craftsmanship is second to none. Really looking forward to playing it live for the first time.

Such a nice guitar, congrats Dan!

How do you like the CAR pickup vs the CC ? What are the differences and which one do you prefer?

    Thanks mate,

Its probably a little hard to give you a fair opinion on that as even though they are both teles they are very different guitars. For example the rutters body is pine the TK tele is originally a 52ri fender body ( ash ). The body of the tk tele is also chambered and of course the neck. Too many variables that significantly effect the tone of the guitar in my opinion. I mean to say the guitars sound different but I couldn’t nail it down to the pickups. About the only difference I can say for sure related to the pickups alone is the output the C.A.R ‘s are lower output. I assume as they are set T.K winds them to his preference where as the cc is most likely matched up to suit the output of tele bridge. I love and recommend both pick ups.

TK is working on p90 mountable CAR pickups. When he played my GREZ he said the p90’s push the amp to breaking up. He asked me if I liked that and said heck yeah! He told me he could wind his CAR’s a little hotter. I’m going to his shop in a couple weeks when Nico comes back. I’m also gonna take Kid out there to have him weigh in on TK’s pickups. Hopefully TK will have something wired up for me to test drive. I think the TK guitars are something special. I would like to see what his pickups could do in a hollow body like Grez’s

Sounds cool. I have to admit that I am not too fond of overwound pickups, since they tend to loose some clarity, but I guess TK would
get it right. Would you describe the CARs as low output pickups?

I am still waiting on that Tele I commissioned over a year ago – my builder is waaaaay over his estimated delivery time (9 months more than estimated). Hope to be able to gather some hands on experience soon with the CC.

Me too Tommy that would be cool!

I can make a quick video for you comparing them if you like blue lu. I guess they would be considered slightly lower output I can only compare them to what I have. I have sean costello lollar p90s in my gold top they are lower than those and very similar output to the vintage gibson p90s in my 175.

I would say that the CAR pickups are lower output. I agree with Dan the output is similar to my vintage p90 in my 175. You are right about the clarity. I agree about over wound pickups, you do lose clarity, but when the resistance is like 3 to 4k a couple extra winds won’t hurt. Granted the wire is fat.
