There’s not a lot of 4 string guitar playing in the swing style going on these days so I thought I’d throw this out there for your entertainment.

I’ve seen those guys once here in Burbank. They sound great. I love the treatment of chords, but also like how full his rhy. sounds for 4 strings. On another note one of my students has contracted me to learn Cry me a River” I always loved the way Barney plays on it. Consequently I bought a Kay Star LP and heard Barney Kessesl’s playing all the way through it. It didn’t mention him in the liner but was definitely him.April 20, 2015 at 6:23 pm #2040bendingtensParticipant
I recently bought a couple hundred back issues of Guitar Player from around 1980 on. Only $45! It is the best bathroom reading ever; plus lots of great lessons inside. Seems like the older issues focused on the players I’m interested in – Junior Barnard, etc. If anyone needs a scan of something, let me know and I’ll see if I have it.April 21, 2015 at 7:46 pm #2056
